With 30 days to go, have you checked the website to make sure that you have a valid passport, a valid EHIC card and a med form, ready for our final parents meeting next Thursday?
Don't forget to head on over to Facebook (www.facebook.com/hlsalps2012) and to Twitter (@HLS_Scouts) to follow the build up to the adventure!

Tomorrow, we're off walking!
Yes, tomorrow we're going walking in the hills of South Tyneside to raise some money for our adventure abroad. You can still come along if you haven't got any sponsors... Bring your mum, dad and dog if you want.
Participants have until May 10 to collect and bank sponsor money, and some scouts have raised over £150 in sponsor money alone!
We're all meeting at 10am at Souter Lighthouse car-park and we'll be back for around 2pm. Let's hope the weather turns out ok!
If you'd like to see where we're walking, go to:

Stadium Collection Update
We raised over £3,000 at the stadium collection, held on the 24th March 2012. The amount raised is the biggest we have ever made. A huge thanks to everyone who attended. Each individual who attended receives £27 directly towards the funding of their costs and £27 goes into a central pot.
Thanks again to all that attended!

Right where we last left off!
France 2012 was officially launched this week and it certainly looks like another huge adventure in the alps! This year, however, marks the tenth anniversary since the district began abroad trips - and - they've almost tripled in numbers as the adventures get bigger and better than ever before.
We've picked up on our new blog, right where we left off on our old one! So, here, along with our twitter and Facebook feed is where you'll find all of the latest and greatest news.
Along with the blog starting earlier than ever, this year booking has turned electronic. So, you can now book the adventure from the comfort of your own sitting room.
We hope to see many old faces, as well as many, many new ones in 2012!

What Next?
I hope Scouts have recovered from their adventure abroad, and the washing machine has recovered from the 'smell of river' some parents have reported!
Some final photos have now been added to the online libraries and these will stay public for another week before being moved behind a login on the website.
Lost property (see these photographs) can be collected from St. Andrews Church this Tuesday at 9.00pm or by arrangement with Jonathan. (alps.hls@durhamscouts.org.uk).
Later this week, a final wrap up email will conclude this year's trip, asking for scouts' feedback, confirming refund arrangements for camp bank and confirming the date of our Big Reunion Bash in September 2011.

This was our final photograph at the Chalet just moments before we departed, for me it captures the scale of France'11.
